LeBron James, Kevin Love Need Cavs' Role Players To Step Up After Game 5 Letdown

4 monthes ago   |   By NESN

BOSTON - LeBron James and Kevin Love did what they could to give the Cleveland Cavaliers a chance to win Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals, but the same couldn't be said of their teammates.
James and Love combined to score 40 points on 17-for-35 shooting, and a huge reason why the Cavs lost 96-83 to the Boston Celtics at TD Garden to go down 3-2 in the series was the rest of Cleveland's roster scored just 43 points on 14-for-39 shooting.
“I think J.R. is working extremely hard guarding Tatum, guarding Brown. I think is doing a good job of trying to guard Rozier, being physical,” Cavs...

Was LeBron James Tired In Game 5? Celtics' Marcus Morris Believes So

4 monthes ago   |   By NESN

BOSTON - It's been a long, long season for LeBron James.
The Cleveland Cavaliers star played a full 82-game regular-season slate, the first time he's done so in his 15-year NBA career. James' workload only has increased in the playoffs, as he's averaging 38.6 minutes per game through 16 postseason contests. He's doing so at age 33, mind you.
The grind appeared to catch up to James in Game No. 98 of his 2017-18 campaign Wednesday night at TD Garden, where the Cavs fell 96-83 to the Boston Celtics in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals. James played 39 minutes in the loss - nine more...

Brad Stevens' Simple Adjustment Baffles Cavs, Puts Celtics On Brink Of NBA Finals

4 monthes ago   |   By NESN

BOSTON - He wouldn't tip his hand before Game 5, but Brad Stevens was holding a flush.
And if he didn't know it prior to tip-off between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers at TD Garden on Wednesday night, he certainly knew it after the C's 96-83 win .
After losing Games 3 and 4 in Cleveland, Stevens elected to re-insert Aron Baynes into Boston's starting lineup, sending Marcus Morris to the bench in order to match the Cavs' size on the interior and give Boston a fresh rotation of wing players throughout the game.
Baynes was solid, tallying six points, seven rebounds and three...

Lue admits LeBron looked fatigued late in Game 5 blowout

4 monthes ago   |   By TheScore

LeBron James has single-handedly carried his Cleveland Cavaliers to postseason victories before, but on Wednesday night in Game 5 against the Boston Celtics , the King needed more from his Knights of the Round Table. James looked out of it near the tail end of Boston's 96-83 victory at TD Garden, which didn't go unnoticed by Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue. "He looked a little tired to me. Yes. Gotta be ready to play now. No concerns," said Lue postgame, according to The Athletic's Jared Weiss. James was the only Cavaliers player to provide the team with anything of value. Kevin...
