Red Sox Turn To Eduardo Rodriguez With Hopes Of Clinching AL East Title

5 monthes ago   |   By NESN

Eduardo Rodriguez will try to seal the division for Boston on Thusday.
The Red Sox couldn't clinch the American League East on Wednesday as they fell 10-1 to the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium, but they'll try again in the series finale when they send Rodriguez to the bump.
The left-hander is coming off a strong outing against the Toronto Blue Jays in which he tossed six innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts. The Yankees will counter with Masahiro Tanaka, who also is coming off a quality start against the Jays in which he threw six scoreless frames with eight punchouts.

Alex Cora Still Confident In David Price, Said Southpaw ‘Battled' In Loss

5 monthes ago   |   By NESN

Yankee Stadium continues to be unkind to David Price.
The Red Sox starter surrendered four earned runs on five hits while walking four in Boston's 10-1 loss to the New York Yankees on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.
Even with the rough outing, Red Sox manager Alex Cora said the southpaw still battled, despite not having his best stuff, and won't be changing his mind about starting Price come playoff time.

With the AL wild-card game looming, the Yankees have discussed who would start that night against the A's. J.A. Voit's two HRs deny Red Sox chance to clinch

5 monthes ago   |   By MLB News

This is a different Yankees team than the fatigued group that rolled their bags out of Fenway Park following a fourth straight loss in early August, as the Red Sox have learned through the first 18 innings of their visit. Moving closer to full strength with some fresh faces mixed in, these division rivals would almost certainly make for a compelling postseason series.

Red Sox Wrap: Boston Drops Second Straight To Yankees With 10-1 Loss

5 monthes ago   |   By NESN

The Red Sox's wait to clinch the American League East continues.
With the magic number still at one, Boston dropped the middle contest of its three-game set against the New York Yankees on Wednesday, falling at Yankee Stadium 10-1.
David Price's struggles in New York continued in the loss, but at the same time he hardly benefitted from the offense struggling to get anything overly meaningful going at the plate.
With the loss, the Red Sox fall to 103-49, while the Yankees climb to 93-58.
Here's how it went down:

Yankees Viciously Roast Red Sox With Bill Buckner Joke After Costly Error

5 monthes ago   |   By NESN

The Boston Red Sox might be a near-lock to win the American League East, but that won't keep the New York Yankees quiet on the old Twitter machine.
New York took Game 1 of its three-game series with the Red Sox on Tuesday, trimming the almost insurmountable AL East deficit to 10 1/2 games.
During Game 2 of the series Wednesday night, the Yankees took an early 3-0 lead thanks to a costly Eduardo Nunez error, and they took the opportunity to talk a little trash via social media.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the second, Aaron Judge hit a ground ball to Nunez at third...

Alex Cora Sheds Some Light On Red Sox's Plan At Catcher For Postseason

5 monthes ago   |   By NESN

Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora has some important decisions to make over the coming days.
With the Sox set to play this postseason, soon the playoff roster will need to be set. Among the most pressing decisions will be how many of the three catchers he plans to take between Sandy Leon, Blake Swihart and Christian Vazquez.
Leon is a lock, as he easily is the most defensively gifted catcher on the team in every facet, and is the preferred backstop for multiple starters, including Chris Sale. So while he's been slumping lately at the dish, it likely would incense the pitchers if he didn't...
