Watch: Leafs, Bruins engage in pair of fights during chippy 3rd period

6 monthes ago   |   By TheScore

Saturday's Atlantic Division clash between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins had no shortage of fireworks. The spirited affair was physical from the puck drop, but intensity ramped up considerably in the final frame, with the familiar foes engaging in multiple fights. Although Nazem Kadri and Brandon Carlo had already dropped the gloves earlier in the game, things started getting out of hand after Zach Hyman caught Charlie McAvoy , who was playing just his second game since returning from a lengthy concussion absence, with a late hit in the corner. Hyman immediately had to answer...

The Bruins snapped their three-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory over the Maple Leafs. While the B's posted a much-needed offensive flurry, their physical showcase was equally as encouraging.

Bruins' Jaroslav Halak Denies Connor Brown In Win Over Maple Leafs

6 monthes ago   |   By NESN

The Boston Bruins desperately needed to break their losing skid and Jaroslav Halak played a big role in doing so Saturday night.
The B's netminder turned away 29 of 32 shots en route to his team's 6-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at TD Garden. He came up huge against Connor Brown after he jumped all over a puck in the neutral zone. Brown drove it to the net but was unable to slip it past Halak, who stood tall and kept Boston ahead.

Maple Leafs struggle again to provide 60-minute effort against Bruins

BOSTON--Hockey seasons go in peaks and valleys, ups and downs. One day you're unbeatable, the next day you can't imagine winning another game.
The Buffalo Sabres are a great example right now. They won 10 straight. Now they've lost five straight.
The Toronto Maple Leafs , meanwhile, seem to be in a mode where they've decided a full sixty minutes of focussed hockey is for the other teams. You know, the teams without all the fancy young forwards. Along with that, they've also decided that defending is for the less skilled.

With the win, the Bruins improve to 15-10-4, while the Maple Leafs fall to 20-9-1.

Maple Leafs Turnover Leads To Bruins' First-Period Goal

Bruce Cassidy's decision to have Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson and David Pastrnak up front for the Boston Bruins during their 4-on-4 in the first period proved to work out just fine.
The B's bench boss has to get creative during these situations due to the amount of injuries his team currently is faced with, and was rewarded in the first period against the Toronto Maple Leafs at TD Garden on Saturday night.
Boston capitalized on a Leafs turnover when Pastrnak found Forsbacka Karlsson who scored to put the Black and Gold up 1-0.

Brandon Carlo, Nazem Kadri Drop Gloves During Bruins-Maple Leafs

6 monthes ago   |   By NESN

BOSTON - Nazem Kadri isn't exactly adored in Boston, so there's no doubt Bruins fans were fired up when the Toronto Maple Leafs forward was involved in fisticuffs Saturday night.
Kadri, who was suspended for three games in last season's first-round NHL playoff series between the B's and Leafs for a vicious hit on Tommy Wingels, dropped the gloves with the Brandon Carlo in the latter stages of the second period.
