Red Sox Notes: Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts Remain Bright Spots For Red Sox

8 monthes ago   |   By NESN

After a rewarding 2018 season, 2019 hasn't been what the Red Sox had hoped for.
Boston is just seven games above .500 after dropping Wednesday night's game to the San Francisco Giants at Fenway Park. But that doesn't mean every player has struggled this season. In fact, several of them have found record-setting success.
Rafael Devers has had himself one heck of a season, becoming the youngest player since 1965 to hit 30-plus home runs in a season Wednesday night. Xander Bogaerts has had a stellar season as well, driving in more than 100 runs for the second season in a row on top of 31...

8 monthes ago   |   By NESN

Jackie Bradley Jr. has been known to make highlight-reel catches quite a few times over the course of a Major League Baseball season.
And Tuesday was no different.
The Boston Red Sox center fielder made an outstanding catch in the 12th inning of a tie game against the San Francisco Giants. Bradley tracked the ball down, jumped up and made the catch up against the Green Monster to take away a base hit.
But where does this rank on Bradley's list?
First, take a look at the catch:

Red Sox Wrap: Boston's Offense, Bullpen Struggle Yet Again In 11-3 Loss Vs. Giants

Talk about dismal.
It was another miserable night for the Red Sox on both sides of the ball as Boston fell 11-3 to the Giants in Game 2 of the three-game set against at Fenway Park. The Sox utilized eight pitchers along the way, and they had their own struggles to cope with.
Jhoulys Chacin struggled a bit in his third start of the season for the Sox, allowing four runs to score through just 2 2/3 innings pitched.
Boston falls to 79-71 with the loss while San Francisco climbs to 74-78.
Here's how it all went down:

Red Sox's Sam Travis Cracked Joke After Getting Hit In Head Vs. Giants

8 monthes ago   |   By NESN

A scary situation turned humorous Tuesday night.
Sam Travis laced a triple in the sixth inning of Tuesday's game between the Red Sox and San Francisco Giants, but was hit in the head on the relay throw from Brandon Crawford. Travis' helmet flew off while he was rounding second, so his head was unprotected.
He remained down for several minutes but was able to walk off the field under his own power. Travis was removed from the game, and manager Alex Cora revealed prior to Wednesday's game his player was in concussion protocol, but feeling better.
In fact, he likely was feeling better as he...
